It’s that time of year again when many people are receiving their settlement bills from SCE. As most of you know, individuals who went solar before April 2023 are billed monthly for taxes and administrative charges and receive a settlement bill at the end of the year for the portion of their energy not covered by solar.
This process has become more complicated and led to numerous questions from customers in Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage enrolled in Desert Community Energy (DCE) and Rancho Mirage Energy Authority (RMEA). For these customers, delivery charges are paid to SCE, while generation charges are paid to DCE or RMEA. To further complicate matters, the true-up bills for these charges are received during different months. Here is a summary of the rates based on your rate structure:
