Good news for homeowners adding battery backup to their homes! Tesla is offering a limited-time rebate on eligible Powerwall battery systems, adding extra value to new and recently signed projects. The rebate is offered and managed directly by Tesla and provides an added bonus for customers investing in battery storage.

Homeowners can receive $500 per Powerwall, up to $1,000 total per household, for Powerwall 3 and Powerwall 3 Expansion units. The rebate applies to up to two Powerwalls per home.

Rebate Requirements & Qualifications

  • Eligible equipment
    Install Powerwall 3 or Powerwall 3 Expansion units (up to two per home).
  • Order window
    Place your Powerwall order between November 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026, either directly through Tesla or through a Tesla Certified Installer.
  • Rebate registration
    Register for the rebate through Tesla’s rebate portal by March 31, 2026. Registration is required and does not happen automatically.
  • Installation window
    Have the system installed, connected, and registered between January 1, 2026 and September 30, 2026.
  • Final submission: Submit the final rebate request through Tesla’s rebate portal by September 30, 2026 after installation is complete.

If approved, Tesla issues the rebate directly to the homeowner as a Virtual Visa Reward Card, delivered by email. It’s important to note that this rebate is handled entirely by Tesla, not Hot Purple Energy. Homeowners are responsible for completing all rebate steps themselves through Tesla’s rebate portal, including registration and final submission. Missing any deadline may result in the rebate being forfeited.
