As we head into full summer mode here at HPE, and believe us, with over 180 degree heat on the roofs around here, we have a real summer mode, its important for us to look back on the past 2011-2012 season and highlight some of the great events we were lucky enough to be a part of. Being in the middle of the renewable energy space in the Coachella Valley is something we are very proud of, but being involved with such great causes and community it really what it is all about.
A Look Back
Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade – A hilariously fun mid valley event on El Paseo that has been going on since the early 60’s and if you haven’t been we highly recommend it! This event was originated by several individuals who just wanted to have FUN! This is right up our ally and when it comes to contests, the HPE team delivered with our “Future is Bright” Fortune Teller…we won the Mayor’s Choice Award! Check out our golf cart and some great pictures from this event. You won’t want to miss next year’s 2012 Theme “American Pride” Click Here for more details.
Festival of Lights – Over 80,000 people gathered in downtown Palm Springs to watch this annual holiday celebration. A great family oriented event that HPE has been proud to support for the past two years. Were you one of the 80,000 people that had the pleasure of seeing the HPE sleigh and purple reindeer? If not then check out these pictures….what a great time!
Modernism Week – An exciting week long celebration of mid-century modern design, architecture and culture in Palm Springs. A variety of events, including architectural tours, films, lectures, educational events and lots and lots of parties! HPE was a proud sponsor of the Pre-Fab Village where LivingHomes introduced their “Supergreen Prefab House” the C6, on Palm Canyon Drive. HPE solar arrays were powering not only this super cool prefab home but our very own HPE All -Star Band…they rock! HPE President Nate Otto and LivingHomes CEO Steve Glenn spoke to an audience on Energy101…both enlightening and educational! We also sponsored the Modernism Week Bike Tour Map which ended this fantastic weeklong event with a tour of Palm Springs and highlighted some amazing homes with Hot Purple Energy on their rooftop!
Fashion Week – Under the big white tents on El Paseo, this is one of the desert’s most popular events of the season. The Ultra-Lounge before each night’s runway show, pre-parties, after-parties, in-store events and best of all charity events…HPE signed up to support a great cause – The Humane Society of the Desert, a non-profit held a spectacular fundraiser auctioning off custom dog houses….who let the dogs out…woof, woof! In partnership with Interior Design Associates and Jules Moore Design, HPE stole the show with a custom dog house built for dog royalty. We hear that the proud owners of the HPE dog house are really living it up! Where do you get one of these houses, sorry folks this is a one of a kind, once in a lifetime custom built dog house – check out our pictures below!
Mayor’s Healthy Planet Healthy You Race and Wellness Festival – The City of Palm Springs hosted a race and Wellness Festival to challenge friends and family to get healthy! A great cause that HPE was honored to participate in as a sponsor. The day’s festivities included a 7 mile, 5K and 1K race and wellness festival on Earth Day weekend at the City of Palm Springs Wellness Park. This event was special to HPE as we introduced our solar powered “Flying Circus!” Yes, that is a HPE plane folks!
2nd Annual HPE Tennis Invitational – HPE invited 40+ guests to its signature annual tennis tournament/fundraiser for The Skin Cancer Foundation. It was hot, but that didn’t slow this crew down as they hit the grass courts at Mission Hills for a day of healthy competitive fun! HPE family member and legendary professional tennis player Carolyn Lumber helped organize the event and keep the tennis troops in line. The Skin Cancer Foundation is HPE’s main charity and they have raised thousands of dollars over the years – not only with this annual tennis tournament but with their neighborhood referral program where $250 is donated from each customer solar system referral. HPE’s motto for this event… Have FUN…. and “Wear Sunscreen!”
Brew at the Zoo – This was the 3rd annual celebration and fundraiser to benefit The Living Desert’s endangered species programs – a one of a kind beer festival with over 35 beer, wine and food vendors and over 1800 people in attendance. In an effort to promote sustainable beer consumption and production, HPE founded the “Sustainable Brewers Award” which honored those brewers who showed the greatest attention to sustainability and eco-friendly beer without sacrificing quality or taste. And the winners are…..1st Place New Belgium Brewing and Honorable Mention Stone Brewing Company! These two brewing companies are doing great things with their sustainability efforts and HPE was proud to recognize them in turn with a very sustainable award – made from their very own beer boxes! HPE also sponsored the Eco-Safari Lounge which came equip with our very own Hot Purple Energy All-Star band and life size jenga game. It was the hot (purple) spot of the evening!

We also donated Hot Purple lighting for the dance floors which provided spectacular ambiance for this desert evening event. A great time and a great cause!
