Hot Purple Energy Solar Stage and Sunset Sessions
Hot Purple Energy is pleased to sponsor and host the solar powered main stage at the exciting new hub for Modernism Week 2015, CAMP.
Hot Purple Energy is a Palm Springs based solar company and a proud sponsor of Modernism Week. Since its inception in 2010, Hot Purple Energy has dedicated itself to the people and causes important to the Coachella Valley. One exciting way for us to do this is by sponsoring local musicians and donating their talent, and our mobile solar power, to the worthy not-for-profit community events valley wide. Energy is what Energy Does.
This year’s CAMP is an exciting evolution cultivating the efforts of years past and we are pleased to offer our solar powered stage, our love for modern architecture, and last but not least, our love for music and our local talent.
Solar and music come together as the energy of life and we couldn’t be more pleased to provide this energy to the center of CAMP, bringing sustainable energy to our Community and Meeting Place.
Come out and enjoy Live Modern Lounge Music at its Best!
CAMP Modernism
Friday February 13
Blue Suede Mod : Smokey 60’s Elvis Mod, with Funk, Bossa Nova and Rockabilly roots. Think a sunset martini infused with a modernism lounge act.
Saturday February 14 – KCRW
Sunday February 15 – Private Party
Monday February 16
The HPE All-Stars : The HPE All-Star Band has delighted audiences desert wide, this trio’s late 50’s Ska eclectic jazz sound will be driven by Arturo Zamora samba drum beats and Alex A’s Latin blues guitar.
Tuesday February 17
The Tibor Lesko Trio : While a jazz staple here in the desert, Tibor Lesko is relatively new to the Hot Purple Energy line up. A charming entertainer, Tibor’s stand-up bass sustains the true jazz trio tradition, with Roger King on the Drums and Barney McClure on Piano. Think Chicago style jazz warmed by the desert sun.
Wednesday February 18
Techno Nova : Wednesday heats up with Techno Nova fronted by the sultry tone of Symara Stone and the precision drumming of Erik Mouness. Avant guard jazz where Billy Holliday meets Portishead.
Thursday February 19
The Lounge Lizards: Shaken and stirred, Andrew Bentzien’s Lounge Lizards rock/funk/acid jazz stylings are for those who can handle a tasteful and exciting makeover on a classic design. They do not disappoint.
Friday February 20
Machin’ : Armed with an Iraqi Combat Vet and a fiddle, Machin’ Militia, our favorite Spanglish band has taken the desert by storm. If you haven’t heard Machin’ you should, and if you have, we know we’ll see you Friday.
Saturday February 21
Easy Riders: We couldn’t ask for a better band to wrap up our mid-century bike ride on Saturday afternoon. The Easy Riders’ swing the stand-up bass with Matt Harris of the Posies on guitar and eclectic beats of Brenden Boerger into a legendary funky rockabilly experience that can’t be beat. An Easy Ride with the Easy Riders!
Sunday February 22
The HPE All-Stars Part 2
The HPE All Stars: To close out Hot Purple Energy’s 5th year of Modernism Week sponsorships and music, we are leaning on our local classic-pianist-gone-funky Acid Jazz jam band almost-famous keyboardist Shannon Graham to groove us through Sunday’s Sunset. No vocals needed.
